The Ngorongoro Crater is the world's largest intact volcanic caldera and one of Africa's most spectacular wildlife arenas. The 260 sq km crater floor is home to approximately 25,000 large animals including all of the Big Five — lion, elephant, buffalo, leopard and the critically endangered black rhino. The crater's walls act as a natural enclosure, creating an extraordinary year-round game-viewing experience.

Day-by-Day Itinerary
Depart early morning. Drive through the Ngorongoro highlands, passing Maasai bomas. Check in to lodge on the crater rim with stunning caldera views. Afternoon at leisure.
Descend into the crater at dawn. Spend a full day searching for the Big Five on the crater floor. Picnic lunch by the hippo pool. Ascend at dusk. Night at rim lodge.
