Overview
The Northern Circuit is Kilimanjaro's longest and most scenic route. At 9 days, it circumnavigates almost the entire mountain before the summit push — the only route that gives you a true 360-degree experience of Kilimanjaro's many faces. Day-by-Day Itinerary
Remote western start. Pristine rainforest approach. Mti Mkubwa Camp (2,750m).
Emerge into open moorland. Shira 1 Camp (3,500m).
Cross the Shira Plateau. Shira 2 Camp (3,840m).
Leave the southern crowds behind. Head north along the mountain. Moir Hut (4,200m).
Continue the northern traverse. Third Cave Camp (3,870m).
Approach the north-east of the mountain. School Hut (4,750m).
Rest day at altitude. Short acclimatisation hike. Prepare for summit.
Midnight ascent to Uhuru Peak (5,895m). Descend to Mweka Camp.
Descent to Mweka Gate. Certificates and celebration. Return to Moshi.
